Hi All,

I am wondering if it is possible to disable the balancing step in snappyHexMesh? I have noticed that it is consuming a significant percentage of the total computation time of the meshing process, and I am curious what the consequences would be if we disable this balancing step? For my specific geometry, I know approximately how the final refined grids will be distributed, and I can easily use decomposePar to decompose the mesh into the appropriate regions where the cell distributions are relatively well balanced.

Does anyone have any insights into this?

Thanks

I'd say give it a shot and see what happens. I'm guessing you can just set the maxLoadUnbalance value to say 1.0 in snappyHexMeshDict to avoid the rebalancing operations.
snak and wildfire230 like this.
