Hello Foamers,
I am simulating a VAWT with a NACA0018 profile. I modeled it in ICEM and meshing is done using SHM but always the mesh is very bad. I cleaned the exported stl file in blender for getting a waterproof stl but got some bad mesh results. Also tried few python scripts which i got online in blender for modeling NACA profile but even that didn’t give a good result. I tried Salome where I imported the stl file and fused after exploding then exported even that didn’t work for me. I don’t understand where I am doing wrong . I am out of all options and in great need of the community Regards , Raj Kiran. Last edited by Rakkiran; February 1, 2019 at 12:41. Reason: Spell checks and for clear explanation |

Hi
I would use cfmesh or salome. Salome you can mesh one face and then extrude to the height you need. See the screenshots.

Thank you very much for working out the problem and I don't know how to use cfMesh. I would be very grateful if you could share the workflow in salome so that I could have a guidance for what you have done.
Regards, Raj Kiran. |

Here is a good guide to get started with cfmesh.
It is included with the openfoam.com version. Regarding Salome Here is a link to the case both with cfmesh and the .hdf file for Salome. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Bk...ZPYjvDwUytExix
