Hello all,

So, basically this has been an issue for some time - I have fixed it before, but this time it is proving quite painful comparatively.

At the interface between two .stl files I get created a bunch (in the order of tens) absolutely miniature domains, can be even a single cell..

Does anybody have solutions for that?

Hi nusivares,

I recently had exactly this problem. Increasing the level of refinement for one of the surfaces to (2 2) from (1 1) in the refinementSurfaces subdict in snappyHexMeshDict did the trick.

Cheers,

Matt

So, I think I fixed it - I followed the guidance of Tobias Holzmann here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBmB6xsnznw&t=863s

But used not instead of Netgen 2D .stl meshing(before exporting it as improved quality .stl), but mefisto - this seems to have done the trick this case.

Trial and error as usual.

This is the way I go, too. The Mifesto algorithm produces the same triangle on both interfaces while the Netgen 2D just be consistent at the connecting corners. However, personally, Netgen 2D produces qualitatively better meshes but for multi-region cases I use Mifesto as well.
