Hello!

I probably have a simple problem with snappyHexMesh that could be solve with ease, but i tried it and looked in this forum for a similar problem but i didn't find it.

Well, i have created a .stl object with 3dsMax, a prism that pretends to be a buiding. Here you have its axis view and size in paraView.

Then i built up a rectangular mesh by editing pitzdaily tutorial. I had no problems with the mesh. Then i edited the snappyHexMechDict and i tried to remove the cells from the place where the object must be. However, the result of snappyHexMesh was that it had remove the external cells to the object and i had leave the internal cells, the opposite that i wanted.

I thought that the problem would be the locationInMesh, but i tried with different ones (all of them inside the building), even different decimals (i thought that i could be on a face) but it always happens the same.

If you need, i can post my blockMeshDict and my snappyHexMeshDict too.

I hope you could help me. I would be very grateful.

Hello Pela,

The locationInMesh must in the zone of the mesh you wish to keep. In your case, you must place the point outside the STL, but inside your initial mesh.
