Hello Foamers

I'm testing a possibilities of snappyHexMesh. I meshed a basic geometry in salome (see pic.1).

So after all I meshed the same geometry with SHM (see pic 2). Stop laughing . It's not necessary to link me to another meshing tools. I just trying to find a limitation of SHM.

I tried tune the SHMdict. With higher number of cell it looks better, but stil not perfect. The mesh is created over the .stl file or there is a gap between the mesh and the .stl surface. I saw in motor bike tutorial that the surface is followed very well by SHM. But in my case (internal mesh)...

SO.... how is possible to create exact shape according to .stl file? I tried a lot of variations in SHMdict but mesh didnt follow exactly the shape.

Any advice? I attached my SHMdict as well.

Thank you very much for your help and time
Roman

Greetings Roman,

Have a look at the tutorials listed on this page: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/SnappyHexMesh - a considerably large amount of information on how to use snappyHexMesh is accessible from there!

Happy reading! Best regards,
Bruno

With
Code:
tolerance 0;
you actually prevent snapping... And increase your
Code:
maxLocalCells
maxGlobalCells
at least by factor 100. Small values there are an avoidable error source. Regards!
