I recently downloaded OpenFOAM on an Ubuntu 18 machine and it has been working great until I tried to run the alias "of7" which I needed for a tutorial I'm following.
After I ran "of7" I got the following message "(pathNo such file or directory" When I downloaded I followed https://openfoam.org/download/7-ubuntu/ Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi Tenichols,
Did you add this line 'source /opt/openfoam7/etc/bashrc' at the end of your bashrc? How you have defined your alias? If you post that, it would be easy to look into your problem. Krao |

Yes I have executed the following: "gedit ~/.bashrc" and added "source /opt/openfoam7/etc/bashrc" at the bottom of that file and saved. I am curious though, when I go to my bashrc file manually "gedit /opt/openfoam7/etc/bashrc" The file looks different than when I use ""gedit ~/.bashrc", what is going on here? What do you mean by How you defined your alias? Sorry I'm new to all this. I appreciate your help. |

You have mentioned that you have executed of7 and it is not working. Here in your case 'of7' is the alias (short name or nick name) for 'source /opt/openfoam7/etc/bashrc'. So if you have not mentioned alias, add this following line at the end of your gedit ~/.bashrc

If you want to know more about, how to define alias go to this following link and refer section 2.2.2https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/I...with_the_Shell If you have installed in a different directory then check out this link, it might help you bash: /opt/openfoam230/etc/bashrc: No such file or directory Hope this is clear for you, Krao Last edited by Krao; September 20, 2019 at 11:09. |
