[OpenFOAM.org] Update OpenFoam on macOS using Docker

Hi,
How can I update the OpenFoam installed on Docker in MacOS?

the

Code:

apt-get update

doesn't work.

Quick answer: In Ubuntu and Debian, to upgrade installed Deb packages via APT, you need to do 2 commands:

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

At the first place, using "apt-get" does not work due to permission error on a docker image, and "sudo" is also not included by default in docker images.

I found a solution as follows:
First, It requires to load the docker image via the "root" user. Such that:

Code:

docker run -u 0 -it <image_name_or_id> /bin/bash

you can find the OpenFoam <image_name_or_id> via the command:

Code:

docker image ls

After entering the image as the root, you can use

Code:

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

to update the packages. I prefer to use

Code:

apt-get --only-upgrade install openfoam6

instead of updating all packages.
