Hello everyone!

I would like to confirm how to install several versions of OpenFOAM in the same computer.
Let's assume I want to install versions 2.3.1, 4.0 and 5.0. I install them "normally" from the instructions in the OpenFOAM webpages (or other sources), like it was a single install; then I need to change the bashrc file? How do I do it?
Plus, won't the several Paraview versions enter in conflict? How do I assure all of the versions use just one Paraview version (preferably the most recent one)?

Thanks for you attention and help!

All the best,
Joćo Gil

Quick answers:
  1. Most of the answers are here: https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/I...with_the_Shell
  2. Usually a specific version of ParaView is built with the respective OpenFOAM version; if you want to only use the latest ParaView version, then you can have 2 terminals open on the same case folder:
    • one for running with the older version of OpenFOAM
    • and another for the latest OpenFOAM version where you only use ParaView
This is so that the OpenFOAM cases are open with OpenFOAM's own supported case reader for ParaView.
  3. Alternatively you could install only the ParaView that comes with the respective Linux Distribution and then use:
    Code:
    paraFoam -builtin
for using ParaView's internal reader, which will work most of the time, expect in some cases...
