i have to compile OpenFoam in my dekstop but i had some problem, can anybody help me please. because i was new in OF. thanks

1. Which OpenFOAM version are you trying to install?
2. Which Linux Distribution are you using? And is it 32 or 64-bit?
3. Which installation instructions are you following?

I don't know if you have solved this issue or not since then.

But if not, please let me know, so that I can try and diagnose the problem.

Quick answer, albeit several years later, but I stumbled upon the same issue, this time with OpenFOAM.com v1706.

The trick is to build with the following option:

CMAKE_SHARED_LINKER_FLAGS:STRING=-lX11

So based on the instructions for OpenFOAM 5.x mentioned above, it would be:

./makeParaView -python -mpi CMAKE_SHARED_LINKER_FLAGS:STRING=-lX11 -python-lib /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpython2.7.so.1.0 > log.makePV 2>&1
