Hello,

I have installed OpenFOAM v1612+ on Windows 10 and it works fine. However, I would like to run extra utilities along with openFOAM such as PyFoam and from the commands shell I can not install all the modules required for PyFoam using the Ubuntu commands as boot2docker is the operating system in the virtual machine.

I also tried commands such as tce-load for extra package installation but it gives me the error: tce-load command not found.

Do you have some guideline for extra package installation along with OpenFOAM v1612+ ?

Quick answer:

1. Read this thread on how to access root permissions: https://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/op...ia-docker.html
2. After logging/switching into root mode, you can install the system packages needed for installing PyFoam.
3. Then logout/exit from root mode and as a normal, you should be able to follow the installation instructions for PyFoam, from within the OpenFOAM+ command environment.

Could you confirm the password for V1806 is "ofuser2017" as it is writen on the Esi website: https://www.openfoam.com/download/in...nary-linux.php

"login as root with the password ofuser2017"

ofuser2017 is starting with a "o" lowercase like oliver, or with a "0" like 1-1=0 ?


As I tried to log as root to instal python3 but I get all the time:

[ofuser@default ~]$ su
Password:
su: Authentication failure

Is there a limit in the number of attemps? maybe it keep saying " auth failure because I'am ban ?

I'am on win10 .

Actually the info on the web page needs to be updated. The new pswd for docker with 1806 is openfoam as you can find in the install script, or the start script, cannot remember without looking at those.

It works on my win10 machine, but not on my 2 linux-mint machine, all using docker.

It is different a different password for root between w10 and linux ? I also tryed my host password , but no success.

I tryed to search on installOpenfoam and startOpenfoam script , but I could not find any password. ( according to this thread su root Authentication Error , the password is in startOpenfOam)
But in this file I only have 3 lines :

xhost +localf_v1806
docker start of_v1806
docker exec -it of_v1806 /bin/bash -rcfile /opt/OpenFOAM/setImage_v1806.sh

I 'am clearly missing something here. thanks for any help
