Hello I had the same issue. It would be great to know how to problem solve.
I'm installing OpenFOAM v7 for Windows 10 (win64) On Ubuntu following these installation instructions: https://openfoam.org/download/7-ubuntu/ I successfully installed OpenFOAM but when I came to User Configuration I typed: gedit ~/.bashrc Which returned: ~$ gedit ~/.bashrc Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused (gedit:14): Gtk-WARNING **: 17:56:52.440: cannot open display: I'm not sure what the issue is. Please can you help? Best, Josh |

Quick answer @Josh: Follow the instructions at https://openfoam.org/download/windows-10/ - namely section "Enabling Graphical Applications"
