Dear,
I have once tried OpenFoam on Ubuntu, but I now tried to install the official openfoam 2.4 for windows from openfoam.com. After installation I followed the procedures to run OF_Create_Env and OpenFOAM_Start. But after that I got lost. First of all I don't understand the instructions regarding the working directory and working directory naming. Secondly I can't find the OpenFOAM examples/tutorials directory. Last one is that after "exit" the VM and restarting OpenFOAM_Start, I first get an error that some key can not be opened. Then it takes longer to start the real openFOAM compared to the first time, after which I get bash: mpicc: command not found. Now I have uninstalled everything, but still wanting to get it to work. Any help with all of the above will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Quick answer: Unfortunately I haven't figured out yet how to make their installer work properly I have a somewhat unconventional Windows installation either way, so I haven't been able to figure out where the conflict was.
If no one else answers in the meantime, I strongly advise you to send an email to the address given on the first post of the first announcement: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...m-windows.html |

1 The OpenFOAM installation is under the following location and tutorial can be find
under this location /opt/OpenFOAM . Type command cd /opt/OpenFOAM However to run tutorial , you need to copy them to workingDir and then run it 2. WorkingDir is the folder which will be seen from bash shell environment of OpenFOAM . If you go inside the workingDir and do ls . you will see files in your windows computer which are under C:\Users\UserName i.e C:\Users\alex . If you do not have any folder with name username as such alex in example , you need to create one with username and then again click on Create_Env shortcut and then click on Start_Env. 3. mpicc command not found: do not worry about it if you just want to run OpenFOAM and need not to rebuild it |

Dear Lavrov
Yes, I have run tutorial. The only thing is that tutorial are in root area so you cannot run it there until you have root access , so you need to copy them to workingDir and then start working on it Thanks Pawan |
