Hello world,
I made a tool for Blender which extrudes boundary layer cells on top of any surface mesh, or an existing OpenFOAM mesh created with e.g. SnappyHexMesh. I call the tool Shell extrusion method, and it's part of my Unstructured Grids add-on for Blender. I made it to create flat cells by extruding new edges towards adjusted vertex normal directions. It can be used to create boundary layers, although my original target was to mesh thin solid shells. Here's example pictures of a mesh, where a mesh of a steel shell was built on top of a vessel geometry meshed with Snappy. I tested this on a conjugate heat transfer case with chtMultiregionFOAM, seems to work. You're welcome to try it out, but beware: It creates intersections if extrusion thickness is too large! chtVessel2_mesh_001.png chtVessel2_mesh_004.png chtVessel2_mesh_005.png chtVessel2_mesh_006.png chtVessel2_mesh_007.png |
