Dear all,

There were previously minor conflicting code components that prevented a co-existence of waves2Foam and IHFoam wave modules within the waves2Foam class of solvers: waveFoam, waveIsoFoam, and porousWaveFoam.

This has been resolved as of v2012, where the boundary conditions in waves2Foam have been renamed (see release notes). The present post describes the modifications required to execute the waveFoam solver with IHFoam boundary conditions. The basis is the "streamFunction" test case in

Code:
OpenFOAM-v2012/tutorials/multiphase/interFoam/laminar/waves/streamFunction

There are only a few additional lines required in the waveProperties dictionary:

Code:
seaLevel 0;
seaLevelAsRefernce false;
relaxationNames ();

It is important to note that waveFoam works with the possibility of defining a reference level, where the definition differs from the standard in OpenFoam; the latter was introduced later than in waves2Foam and the method differs between branches, so the waves2Foam approach is kept for uniformity across waves2Foam.

This small addition to waveProperties allows the user to combine IHFoam wave definitions with pre- and run-time tools such as wave gauges and overtopping methods available in wavesFoam. Please refer to the manual for details: https://www.researchgate.net/publica...es2Foam_Manual

Please note that I have personally no experience with IHFoam. The present extension is incorporated upon popular request.

Kind regards

Niels

Dear all,

Improved support for IHFoam within waves2Foam is now released; see Release of a Wave Generation and Absorption Toolbox for OF for details.

Kind regards
