OpenFOAM Users and Programmers,
A new solver is written for OpenFOAM that solves the electro-hydrodynamic flow including the continuity, momentum, ionic transport equations and the Poisson equation. The flow solver is based upon the interFoam solver in OpenFOAM 2.1.x. The ionic boundary conditions in this solver employ the ionic flux values at the electrodes resulting from the electron transfer faradaic reactions. The source term in the momentum equation accounts for the Coulombic body force resulting from the local net charge and the electric field. This solver will also be available shortly on OpenFOAM wiki. However, we upload it here earlier. Feel free to use this solver. However, please cite this paper as the reference. https://aip.scitation.org/doi/full/10.1063/1.5050793 The solver is compatible with OpenFOAM 2.1.x. However, it can easily be transformed to other versions of OpenFOAM. This is the link to the solver: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/p45ax8p4q...Lorv5WU_a?dl=0 Some tips in successful simulation with EHDIonFoam: 1) the time scale of polarized layer creation at the electrode is much lesser than the flow field. Hence, you should start the simulation with much small time steps. 2) the grid resolution at the electrodes, should be sufficiently high to capture the steep gradients of ion concentration and the electric potential. Fellows,
This is the link to the tutorial in openfoam wiki website. I will continue to add more stuff in this web page: https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/E...ase/EHDIonFOAM Enjoy Foaming |
