Based on your experience which optimization package (ModeFrontier, ISight, OptiStruct to name a few) that interfaces well with CFD and how have your experiences been? Some comments or advice will help.

Thanks

Hi

Optistruct can not couple with CFD, it is a topology topography opimization suite, Altair has another solution for that named Hyperstudy.

In my opinion Hyperstudy is more robust and accurate than modefrontier amd isight.

We face in the past cases as turbine blades, external aerodynami etc. the couplin between Hyperstudy and Hypermesh and also the great Hypermorph engine provides a full solution package on the CFD optimization.

The only software that i believe that is good as Hyperstudy is IOSO from a Russia company but they are having only optimization code, on the other hand Altair provides everything as meshing code, morphing, cfd solvers, optimization codes... and all high end and very low cost.

I can send you more info is you wish

Sorry, Hyperstudy is what I meant and not OptiStruct.

Elena, can you highlight more on what features of Hyperstudy you felt were better than the other packages you have used. Is it more to do with the Genetic Algorithm options it offers or something like the ease of use. Thanks in advance.

IOSO software is also very good in cfd.
It use surface response methods, together with self-organization algorithms, very good performing!
I suggest you to try it!

I used modeFrontier in conjuction with Gambit and AnsysFluent (+ UDF) in different industrial applications. I really enjoyed the post-processing feature of the software compared to the other optimization tools.
