Default handling dense regions in gas fluidized beds

Hi Eveybody

I am writing code for multiphase flow.It works well at high gas velocities. However, when i try to simulate a gas-solid fluidized bed at minimum fluidization, i get solid volume fractions above the maximum packing limits in some regions.I am also using plastic regime to handle such dense packings but its not of much help.Could anyone point how to get around this unrealistic high packing.

regards Rahel
