Hello everyone
I had a project in the field of vortex generator in the channel and I compared my project with similar articles because Re in my project was calculated by the hydraulic diameter of channel and similar articles with the diameter of the vortex generator or the height of the channel, I calculated the Re of the articles in terms of the hydraulic diameter of the channel and because The Re values in my project were lower than the values in the similar articles and similar articles were studied in laminar flow, I decided to study laminar but the question is whether the flow is laminar or turbulent, what is the flow in this matter and how? Is it possible to determine whether the flow should be studied in laminar or turbulent mode??

So you have say a rectangular duct with a vortex generator on one of the walls? These flows are predominantly characterized by the boundary layer of the oncoming channel flow. So it is appropriate to calculate the channel Reynolds number. And if this Re based on hydraulic diameter is less than 2300, then laminar is the way to go. The vortices created by a vortex generator is highly coherent.
