Hello,

Currently using AMR for a simulation for a project I have been working on. I noticed I could change the value of "Transition Width" within the AMR settings. I read a little bit on it on the STAR-CCM's website, but still don't understand what it does. Can someone help me?

Also, when using AMR, should I always enable the "check face validity" option? Why or why not?

I added a screenshot of the settings for reference! Thanks!

There is a beautiful picture in the documentation that demonstrates quite clearly what transition width does.

Check face validity will enforce the face validity value in the next line. IYKYK. If you do check it, it does an extra sweep to force the face validity and takes longer to mesh. The benefit of doing this is... nothing if you have no clue what it does. I don't recommend to check every checkable box in Star. There is no achievement you can unlock in your profile for doing so.

Finally, I don't even recommend using use AMR in the first place. Just learn how to mesh.
