If inflow turbulence is not generated for a LES setup, will the LES solver act as an inviscid compressible flow solver ? Or is this behaviour code dependent ?
I think the behaviour will be like an inviscid compressible solver however, I would like to know why it would be or would not be. |

No, not at all! Your LES solution will develop a physically correlated turbulence after some lenght from the inflow section. But that depends also on the initial condition, if perturbed or not. If not, you can wait a lot of time unit before to see turbulence developed in a certain region of the computational domain. Do not forget that a correct LES formulation is capable to solve the laminar, transitional and turbulent regime along a flat plate. Therefore, a laminar inflow is congruent, too. |
