I have many legacy models built in FIDAP. Unfortunately, the technique that I last used (2016) to run the software no longer correctly launches the GUI. Specifically, I am now running Windows 10 with Exceed and FIDAP launches and creates most of the correct GUI but not enough of it to fully utilize the GUI. I know the software is a bit of a dinosaur at this point, but the models involve free surface flows and these are not handled (at least to my satisfaction) in FLUENT. Anyone out there using FIDAP or had experience getting old software that needed X-terminal emulation to work in 2022? Much thanks.

You can install "VMWARE Workstation" on top of your Windows installation and run whatever guest operating system you want on it.

If you are running Exceed, am I correct to assume that you are running FIDAP off some Unix box through your Windows machine? Can you by any chance run FIDAP without problems directly off the machine where it is installed?

I don't know how old your version of FIDAP is, but I think your problem might have to do with the X fonts or graphics (not widgets, with which the GUI components like windows and buttons are drawn). Your version of Exceed (assuming it's "old") might also be an issue, as in the past I have seen users having GUI display issues with much older versions of Exceed.

Thanks, Gerry and Joern for your quick replies. I passed your recommendations on to the IT person who is helping me to resolve this.
