Hello, how long do yall think an 11M cell 6DOF simulation would take? Using 8 processors, 16GB ram and 1 solver GPU. I understand there is no way to find exact duration but as approximation how long do yall believe? (Simulation is that of Wind Turbine turning due to air)

Seriously, without any information about which solver, solver options, processor type, or anything else the question is meaningless. But if you know the solver you might check and see if anyone has provided average statistics on solver efficiency (check published papers for things like avg time per iteration per cell). Then figure that your timestep will need to be small enough to resolve the cycle time of the wind turbine (which will be a function of the angular velocity of the turbine) and that you will need to run enough steps to get rid of initial transients and get a good result - say 5 rotor revolutions. Then put all that information in a blender and calculate your number. |

I understand. Thank you for the insight, hopefully it wont take as long as expected. Also i have posted a new thread called "Wind Blade Serration Method Error" if you could kindly check and give your thoughts.
