How convergence is linked with Courant number?
As CFL close to 1, that scheme coverage faster ? |

Hi,
CFL is not a convergence indicator but a stability constraint for time dependent pde. Traditionally it should apply to explicit methis but it is a good rule to respect also with implicit discretization. More cfl is large more the time step is large and thus you will reach earlier the final time. For the flows that admit a steady state solution, you will rich it faster, but your code might o might not support a large time step in dependence of several parameters (time scheme usee, stiffness of thw problem among others). For a nice review of the cfl number in cfd, refere to blazek's book. Hope this help! |
