Hi guys. I am new to CFD. I study about turbulence model. Why there is a term called low-reynolds number Turbulence model? Low reynolds number doesn't mean it is laminar flow OR low reynolds number turbulence means turbulence occur just after transition? Thank you.

the term "low Re number" has nothing to do with the laminar or transition in the flow. These models are applicable to all turbulence flows. This term only indicates the behavior of the turbulence model near the solid walls. Generally there are "High Re number" and "Low Re number" turbulence models. "High Re number" models give poor predictions at near wall regions so they need corrections and modifications. but "Low Re number" models provides reaseonable predictions at near wall regions and no modification is needed. computtaional cost of "Low Re number" models is much higher since they need a fine mesh distribution near the wall.
