Hi,

Need your help to decide the best combination for my condition of simulations.

More often than not, I want to run multiple CFD models ( say 3-4 models) with 8 cores allocated for each.

I am looking at AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5945WX, but which to choose ?
1. 24 core
2. 32 core
3. 64 core

to go with 1,2 or 3rd option what would be the ideal RAM set up
1.2x16GB
2.4x8 GB
3.4x16 GB

I am thinking 32 core with 4x8 GB of RAM. would this be the optimal ? would the bandwith be a problem when I am running multiple models ?
please advice

For this generation of Threadripper Pro CPUs, only the 32-core and 64-core variants make sense for CFD.
The lower-end variants technically still boast an octa-channel memory interface. But due to the low amount of active CCDs, bandwidth to the I/O chiplet can not saturate the memory bandwidth.

Speaking of octa-channel memory: you also need 8 DIMMs for these CPUs. And an expensive WRX80 motherboard.
There is usually a more cost-efficient alternative with a regular Epyc CPU. Or two of them
Memory bandwidth has the same importance, no matter how many simulations you are running simultaneously.
