Hi everyone.
Ok so I am modeling the semicircular canal of the inner ear which houses the endolymph fluid, maintaining the balance sense of the human body. The problem is there is NO inlet or outlet in the structure. The head movements just generate either a clockwise or anti-clockwise rotation ending up displacing an elastic material called cupula, within the canal. 1) Can I do the simulations using FLUENT, without any inlet and outlet? 2) Also, I need to show the displacement of the elastic material 'cupula( inner ear structure)'. Can I simulate this displacement using FLUENT!? Please help me if you can! Thanks! |

1. You can run the problem as a closed domain problem in Fluent (define all boundaries as walls)
2. Displacement can be simulated - you will need to pick the right multiphase model for your application depending on type of flow and volume fraction |

hi,
you can model the flow with no inlet and outlet, but in fluent you cant model elastic solid body. to model that you need ansys 12 or higher and you need to couple fluent (or cfx) with static structural solver. you can read more in FSI tutorial of cfx in ansys 12 or higher. yours, mohammad |
