Hello

Could anyone please tell me the difference between time and ensemble averaging.

It is used in Reynolds average Navier Stokes (RANS) equations. The equations for RANS have the same general form as the instnataneous Navier Stokes equations, with the velocity and other solution variables now representing ensember-averaged (or time averaged) values.

Do time averaged values be used in Unsteady flows and Ensembled average values will be used for Steady flows?

Thank you
Mohsin
