Hi freinds
On modelling the electric arc with MHD module in Fluent , Lorentz force is not loaded and momentum Eq. isn't solved as a result............Does everyone Knows about the problem ?

Hi,

I'm also trying to simulate the electric arc with ansys.
I have the v12.1 and v13 linceses but the programme tells me that I need the MHD module. Do you know how to install it?
Thanks a lot!

hi friends,

I want to have a Lorentz force in the form of F=Eq as a source term in my momentum equations without considering any discrete phase model, the MHD module consider this force just when you have DPM and in other cases consider F=J*B which is not good for me , beacause in my case the magnetic field is zero and i just want to investigate the effect of electric field . what should I do ?

should i start to write another UDF from begining ???

thanks

I also noticed that B fiels is zero even when the solution is converged. I have applied the external B field to the fluid region. Also initialized the MHD model. Why B is still zero?

u first need to initialize the general fluid problem ..then initialize the mhd module then apply the field at the last .....

hello my dear!

I have a magnetic field in my flow and I read a lot of MHD tutorials but I am not able that in which format I should write this in c/c++ ....please if you have a similar c program help me.

regards

I am not sure for which thing u want to write the c program . If u have variable magnetic field then i think u can use import mode of field application in mhd module of fluent.

For modeling MHD , you need to use UDF files + MHD option in Ansys Fluent , ofc it's much more easier in Ansys 12 - 14

I'm going to add a electric field which has a function like E=(q/2*pi*e)(1/x) to fluent.I'm going to use c program for it.
Do you have similar program or how should I build this function?

do you have udf.h library source link?

many thanks

Hi ekhilore:
MHD is a hidden application inside the Fluent. If you already have the Fluent, you can call it from TUI order. To know more, you can search MHD tutorial.
