Inlet turbulent boundary condition: external flows

Dear FLUENT user;
I want to simulate an external turbulent flow. To set the turbulence boundary conditions, there are some formulations in the software documentations, but unfortunately they are just for internal flows (duct flow). How can I calculate the in-flow K and Epsilon for an external flow, for example the flow around a flat plate. best regards, Roozbeh |

Hi Roozbeh,
"For external flows the value of turbulent intensity at the freestream can be as low as 0.05% depending on the flow characteristics. You may have a good estimate of the turbulence intensity at the freestream boundary from experimentally measured data". The quote is taken from this link. http://support.esi-cfd.com/esi-users/turb_parameters/ You can follow this link and read through it. This document is for CFD ACE+ but generally applicable to all codes. Cheers, |

I am unable to find way to give Turbulent intensity and viscosity ratio for flow over turbine (external flow). Kindly help
