hello,

I am solving a 3D unsteady problem and would like to output values of velocity and temperature every 100 timesteps along 3 'slices' of my domain so that I can postprocess the data within a fortran code, I would like the output data files to be in ascii format.

I am aware of the autosave function FLUENT has, but using this, the ouput data file is some strange format, and I dont actually know what the columns of data represent...Any help whatsoever would be very appreciated.

Thank you very much Agi

thanks emad, but I need to have the export-data function work automatically each 100 timesteps, since I would like to save the time history of my problem (I am running an unsteady problem). With your method I can only save the data from the final timestep..

FYI for anyone else that is interested, i found how to do it, you can use the solve-execute command window, and then write the following:

file/export/ filetype filename () yes list-of-scalars q

you need the q at the end to notify fluent that the list of scalars you want outputted is complete.

Excellent! Thank you! I was not aware the TUI commands could be used in the calculation activities section!
