What are the UVW velocity components

In Fluent's terminology are the U,V,W velocity components simply the X,Y and Z components resp. of the fluid velocity field (in SI) in the chosen reference frame or is it something more complicated? Just confirming.

u,v, w are indeed the x-velocity, y-velocity, and z-velocity in the lab/global coordinate system.
