Hello guys and happy new year. I would like to ask one interesting question, about the hardware for Fluent. I was updating my computer before one week with more RAM from 8GB to 24GB, so I improved the performence. But the main problem is when I solve the model (calculate) the computer isn't use the whole capacity of RAM. I compare before, because when I had 8GB of my stationary PC the loading was 100% and now is only 35%. Is there option to use the whole capacity of RAM in the time of calculations. Thank you!

It only uses as much RAM as it needs. But going from 100% RAM load (which probably means it was thrashing/swapping onto the hard drive) and going to <100% RAM load is very good and you should already be seeing a huge improvement.
RAM capacity doesn't affect RAM bandwidth so you won't see any speed improvement by upgrading to more RAM even if you add 100TB of RAM. |
