Hello,

I have just completed two simulations with two separate designs. I want to compare and analyse the results so that I can know which design is better. I used realizable k-epsilon turbulence model. I found an option for eddy viscosity in volume rendering in fluent workbench post-processing module. For one of the design I found the eddy viscosity ranged from almost 0 to 1.6 and then for the other design it ranged from almost 0 to 1.13. I was just wondering if I can use these values as I know that the larger the eddy viscosity, the larger the turbulence is?
I would really appreciate if someone can help me with it.
Thank you

Yes the eddy viscosity is high when there is more turbulent transport. However, momentum transport is the product of eddy viscosity and the strain rate. So eddy viscosity by itself doesn't give a complete picture. That is, areas of low edddy viscosity and high strain can also have "more turbulence."
