Hello!
I have the following problem, mbe someone can help me. I want to simulate a flow through a packed bed with spheres. I have an excelfile with many coordinates for these spheres, the diameter is 3mm. What do i have to do now, to get sucessfully a 3D packed bed? ![]() |

Explicitly resolving the detailed flow inside a packed bed is a tough problem that is hard to do with CFD.
But what you would need to do is CAD your bed of packed spheres and then (the impossible part) mesh it. Only after doing this can you bring it into Fluent and do anything. Otherwise, you could model the behavior of a packed bed by modelling it as a porous media. You would characterize the properties of this porous media somehow, via a surface and volume porosity. |
