hello everyone,
I am trying to use fluent to simulate cooling down a hot plate with full-cone water spray. The purpose is to get the target surface heat flux coefficient. At first, I tried to use the wall-film mode in DPM , but the result is far away from the experimental data. Now I use the EWF mode. I follow the steps on another post :http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/flu...rse-phase.html , but the thinkness of the wall always keeps zero. Has anyone else come across this problem or knows how to do the simulation? or even a tutor will be very appreciated. my procedure: 1. transient calculation 2.enabling energy, DPM, Euler-Wall-Film(I didn't turn on multiphase) 3.setting the boundary condition at the target wall (turning on Eulerian Wall Film, switch to initial condition with all values as 0), constant temperature, DPM type:trap 4.solution methods:simplec, second order implicit 5.initializating and starting the simulation Last edited by spaghetti; May 12, 2015 at 07:31. |

Boundary conditions, in my case, I use "pressure outlet" for most of boundaries expect the target surface is wall with constant temperature. Now I could make it work, but when the particles meet the surface, fluent crashes, showing "Error: Divergence detected in AMG solver: temperature". |

I think your problem with the divergence is because of Eularian wall film model and you need to Initialize the film properly once again.
My problem is with the particle injection when i inject the particles it's velocity seems very low although i gave high velocity of 30m/s and high flow rate in Injection model of the DPM.Can you please help me out for that and it will be best if you send me your DPM setting on my email i will be very thankful.I just need boundary conditions and DPM setting and i do not need eularian wall film as i am studying Erosion caused by Spraying water on a surface. So i want to inject water particles in static air with 30m/s or above but there when i check the particles velocity it is not accordingly. I send you an email hoping they are useful for your problem. I feel like i am going to lose my mind. Damn Fluent!

Hello everyone,
First of all excuse me for restarting the tread once again. I m also interested in simulating wall film using fluent using DPM model. were you sucessful with your simulations? |

Hi everyone,
I am also interested. Could you please share your .cas and .dat file? If so, let me know and I will provide a mail to receive it. I trying to do spray cooling using FLUENT, but my target body does not change its temperature, probably due to ill boundary conditions (trap, wall film...?) Another question, can I obtain the temperature inside the solid body? How can I couple the CFD computations (air with sprayed water particles) with heat transfer across the solid body wihtout leaving FLUENT? I am sure there exists a way to do that. I am using DPM model and injections of water. Thanks in advance! |
