Hi

I have a file with x, y and z coordinates and corresponding temperatures for each point.
Here is a part of that file:
x y z Temp
0.69725 0.68104 0.012542 276
0.34184 0.62185 0.011765 276
1.1473 0.60445 -0.40537 275.69
1.1468 0.56266 -0.31188 275.69
1.1476 0.6241 -0.70874 275.63
0.75318 0.64313 -0.98494 276.01

I have to use that data as initial temperature data. I have tried to use patch but that only works for a few points as I understand it. Unless I use a custom field function however I do not know how to implement my file into the function. The file I have consists of over 700.000 data points and was created using the element data from my mesh. I did measurements and used the measurement data to interpolate the temperature onto the entire mesh.

Now I have a very large initial temperature data file with the temperature value in each element but do not know how to read it into Fluent.

If i could somehow read the data file into Fluent and use the data from it as the initial temperature.

All help will be greatly appreciated.

Fluent can do the interpolation for you.
Have a look at the "file->interpolate" menu point.

Yet it needs a slightly different file format, but since you were able to interpolate the data yourself I am sure that you can figure out how to change the format accordingly.

Thank you!

This is exactly what I was looking for. I don't know how I could have missed that Fluent can interpolate for me.

Thank you again.
