Hello everyone,
Sorry for the poor title. I could not find the best name . So, I just want to give an overview of my model. I have multiple inlets and multiple outlets. One inlet consists of one type of fluid and all others have one type of fluid. They both mix and flow through multiple outlets. At present, I'm testing with a single fluid in all inlets to understand the flow of the fluid. But, I find some obstruction of the fluid in one inlet and flow at the outlets are not at the center of the model. Please any type of help or suggestion would be highly appreciated. Please let me know for further info! Thank you Raj |

Is there any particular reason to expect that flow should be more towards the center? With multiple inlets and outlets, flow could take almost any profile through any of the outlets.

Yeah, there is a reason behind expecting the flow at the center i.e, they are mixed and formed as a single flow in the next step. So, we need a concentric flow of multiple outlets for uniformity.

The fluids might mix, however, on its own, the device cannot deliver uniformly distributed flow. It has to be designed to deliver a uniform flow, within a certain distribution error.

you mean, it can only be done only by modifying the design?

Even if you provide very uniform inlet flow and there is only one fluid, outlet will not be uniform until and unless the device is designed to do that.

If I change the settings from the single phase to the multiphase model(VOF), will it help?

Changing from single phase to multiphase will show the results as per multiphase. It will be closer to reality if it is supposed to handle two immiscible fluids in reality. But will it improve the homogeneity, can't say. It may make it homogeneous or even more non-homogeneous. Its the job of turbulence to make it homogeneous. Higher the turbulence, better the homogeneity.

I'm sorry. I forgot to mention. In my model, the flow is laminar.

Laminar flow is never homogeneous, even on the top of a flat plate or through a simple duct.
