Hi!
Im trying to simulate the propagation of a random wave in a flume.
I have experimental data and I would like to import the 'energy spectrum file', in order to exactly reproduce the laboratory tests, but I don't know the file format and which kind of data the code requires.
Has anyone done this kind of simulation with random wave as boundary conditions?
Thank you.

There should be two columns of data in the file. The left one is a series of angular frequencies of waves (in rad/time), and the right is the corresponding energy values. The total number of rows of data should not exceed 1000. There is no restriction on the extension of the file name.

That's from the User Manual > Model Reference > How do I Model... Wave Boundary Condition. If you need more detail, refer to the User Manual.

Thank you very much. I have the 9.3 version Usr Manual, that's why I did not find the spectrum information.

I try.
Have you done such kind of simulation before?

Hi there!
I'm using Flow 3D for the overtopping evaluation over a revetment. I need to use a defined energy spectrum at the boundary, but I have some issues with the text file to attach.
In the first column I listed the frequencies (so Hz), in the right column the energy (m^2 * Hz). I extracted this file (attached) from a spreadsheet using "Export as text file with tab as separator". I use "," as decimal separator.
Any wave is generated. I tried to convert the "," into a "." but in this case the simulation does not run.
Do you have any suggestion? Could it be a file format error?
Thanks,
Davide
