Hello,
I'm trying to import a 2D transient case from FLUENT 15.0 in EnSight 10.0. But I have this error in the consol output: "Error getting filenames PROBLEM: Trouble opening file names" In the opening window, I put G:\Working-directory\Filename-1-*.cas.gz G:\Working-directory\Filename-1-*.dat.gz My file names are the following : G:\Working-directory\Filename-1-00050.cas.gz for the 50th time step, 00100 for the 100th time step... Do I do something wrong? |

Hi Alex,
A few notes: 1. What is probably happening is that the version of EnSight that you're using is too old to be able to read data from Fluent v. 15. You'll need to update your installation of EnSight. You can find the installers for the latest EnSight - v. 10.1.6(a) - at this link: http://archives.ensight.com/EnSight101/10.1.6a/Full If the update doesn't fix the problem, let me know and we can give it a deeper look, or try point 2. 2. If you don't want or can't update the version of EnSight, there's an alternative way. From Fluent you can export your data in Case gold format, that is EnSight's native format. If you export the data in Case gold, you'll get an .encas file. Select this file in the File->Open of EnSight, and it will load the dataset. An additional advantage of this option is that, as Case gold is EnSight's native format, the performance you will get in EnSight will be better than with the native Fluent format. 3. Finally, as a side note: the Fluent reader allows you to load data in zipped *.gz format. But please take into account that this means that every time you call a variable / geometry update /..., EnSight needs to un-zip the data to load the correct values. This will result in a slow performance. If you want to keep using this format for reading your data in EnSight, consider un-zipping the data before loading the dataset in EnSight. This will make the analysis in EnSight faster. Let me know if you have more questions or if you still have problems. Best Regards, Marina Galvagni CEI Software Support Engineer |

Hi Marina,
Thank you for your help. I have exported my data data in Case gold formata,d it works great! As you mentionned, the performance I get are much better than with the native Fluent format. |
