Hello everybody,

is their a way to install enGrid on a Mac OS X system? Oliver Gloth wrote here (https://twitter.com/ogloth/status/513442486162063360) that he has successfully compiled enGrid on OS X. But he doesn't write how he did it. Any hints? I also tried to install enGrid via homebrew but terminal just put out the following:

Code:
==> ./configure --disable-silent-rules --prefix=/usr/local/Cellar/engrid/1.4.0
--disable-debug
--disable-dependency-tracking
--disable-silent-rules
--prefix=/usr/local/Cellar/engrid/1.4.0

READ THIS: https://git.io/brew-troubleshooting
Would you rather recommend me to install Linux on my system and install enGrid there?

Thanks for all you advice!

Kate

I would be interested in the method, too. Anyone?

Hi Attila,

I didn`t succeed in compiling enGrid on OS X. But it runs well on my Ubuntu VM.

Best regards,

Kate

Kate,

I have sent a message to Oliver on LinkedIn. We'll see whether he replies.
Yes, Ubuntu is supposed to be fine since it is officially supported.

Attila

Kate,

Here is Oliver's reply:

"I strongly suggest you try the current master branch from GitHub. We switched to CMake instead of QMake and it should compile without any problem on a Mac -- provided that you have installed the dependencies (CGAL, Qt, VTK). I am actually developing on a Mac-Book (Mavericks). The only problem is that the menu bar stays in the enGrid window, rather than Mac like on top of the screen. There is some legacy in the code which makes the normal Mac menu fall over..."

Here is the link to the project on GitHub: https://github.com/enGits/engrid

I think Oliver's advise was useful. I have no time to make it done right now but if you went through the compilation successfully, please keep this thread updated.

Regards,
Attila
