Hi!
I would like to simulate the deposition of spherical particles (dia: 30 microns, density: 600 kg/m^3) on a spherical, oscillating cylinder with ANSYS CFX 13.0. The flow is turbulent (Re = 6000, air at T=20°C). -> you'll find all parameters in the attached pdf I'd like to use URANS turbulence model, which calculates the mean flow field. Thus, the eddies are not resolved. However, for the particle deposition, these eddies are important, since they may transport particles to the surface of the cylinder. Hence, a LES would be more appropriate. However, this requires more computational resources, which I don't have. So, my question is: is it possible to simulate my scenario using URANS and get reasonable results for the particle flow? How would I do this using CFX 13? Furthermore, I am searching for studies on "particle-turbulence interation", "particle deposition form turbulent flow" and "particle deposition on bluff bodies + turbulent flow". Can you recommend any papers or books, which deal with this topic? Cheers, Julian
