What do BSL and SSG stand for in BSL Reynolds Stress and SSG Reynolds Stress? Does BSL stand for baseline? This terminology seems to have appeared in Menter's 1994 AIAA Journal paper. BSL and SSG appear to be standard terminology -- not specific to CFX, correct?
What is the best source which defines these things for someone who is new to turbulence? Thank you very much for any information. |

The best way of seeing what is behind the models is firstly by reading the documentation then chasing its references. There are also some unreferenced journal articles about which describe the development of these models, your CFX support person should be able to provide you with these.

I do not see this in the literature. Can anyone answer my question? Thanks so much.

I think Wilcox's book "turbulence modelling for CFD" will cover these models.

For those who are interested, below are several acronyms
BSL = Baseline SST = Shear Stress Transport SSG = Speziale, Sarkar, Gatski RSM = Reynolds Stress Model EARSM = Explicit Algebraic Reynolds Stress Model LRR = Launder, Reece and Rodi IP = Isotropization of Production QI = Quasi-Isotropic LES = Large Eddy Simulation DES = Detached Eddy Simulation SAS = Scale Adaptive Simulation RANS = Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes RNG = Renormalization Group SGS = subgrid scale WALE = Wall-Adapted Local Eddy-Viscosity Last edited by Jade M; May 20, 2010 at 15:06. |
