Greetings,
my steady-state analysis of centrifugal pump (impeller+volute) two phase flow (water+water vapour for cavitation) seems to be done properly, since I am not getting any errors until I open and load 'pump report' template. Meridional views and some other plane views are ok, but report is not complete (no speedlines, flowlines) and I get this error: ''Colour variable'Velocity Meridional' does not exist.'' I unchecked 'volute' under 'Turbo', since it is not symmetrical domain, so I was getting other error before (no outline curve), but I can not get rid of the upper one. I am wondering, if there is any simple solution that I missed, corrupted file problem (since there is so many errors from report generation)... Also: this workbench file is a copy of previous one that I made (varying blade shape). Thank you for your time! P.C. |

I assume you already initialized TurboPost, correct?
You can verify if the missing variables are listed on the "Variables" tab. If they are not, there is a problem. I do not recall if those reports work for multiphase flow simulation. Definitely for a single phase.

I did initialize it.
I am afraid that you are right regarding two-phase problems not beng compatible with these reports. There is so many errors of missing variables that it must be some general problem. I tried to run the report on only impeller and in single phase flow..and it worked for that case. Thanks for your reply. |

The error message "Colour variable 'Velocity Meridional' does not exist" in ANSYS CFX indicates that the report template you're using is trying to reference a variable that doesn't exist in your simulation data. Here are a few ways to fix this issue:
1. **Verify Variable Name:** * Double-check the spelling of "Velocity Meridional" in the report template. Ensure it matches the exact name of the variable in your simulation data. * In CFX, meridional velocity typically refers to the velocity component in the circumferential direction. Look for variables named "Circumferential Velocity" or "Theta Velocity" in the list of available solution variables. 2. **Check Simulation Setup:** * If "Circumferential Velocity" or "Theta Velocity" is not available, it might not be calculated in your simulation setup. Review your simulation settings and ensure the option to calculate velocity components in all directions is enabled. 3. **Use Available Variables:** * If calculating meridional velocity isn't essential for your report, consider using readily available velocity components like axial (X), radial (Y), or tangential (Z). You can then create derived variables (e.g., magnitude or specific components) based on your needs. 4. **Update Report Template:** * If the desired variable truly doesn't exist, you'll need to modify the report template. Edit the template to remove the reference to "Velocity Meridional" and replace it with a valid variable name. Here are some additional resources that might be helpful: * **ANSYS CFX Documentation:** The CFX documentation provides detailed information on available solution variables and report templates. You can find the documentation on the ANSYS website or within the software itself. * **ANSYS Support:** If you're still having trouble resolving the issue, consider contacting ANSYS support for further assistance. They can help you troubleshoot the error and ensure your report template uses appropriate variables. By following these steps and consulting the available resources, you should be able to fix the error and generate your CFX report using the correct velocity variable.
