Hi
I want to simulate a combustion reaction in Ansys CFX. I am defined methane combustion (single-step) reaction. I want to initialize a high temperature source in my geometry at time let say, t =10 s (I am performing a transient state analysis) so that my combustion reaction starts. Please help me how to define an expression for initialization. Thank you in advance |

Have you done the CFX combustion tutorials? Make sure you have done any relevant tutorials so you know how to set it up.
But to answer your direct question - you can apply a heat source on a boundary or a volume. Boundaries are easy - just define a heat flux boundary (or maybe temperature if you want). No need for source terms. Volumes will require a source term. If the heat is just a constant heating rate (or heat flux) then you can use this directly in the source term. If you want to source to go to a defined temperature you will need to do a source term of the form -c(T-T(defined)). Let us know if you want us toe explain this further - and it is discussed in the documentation under source terms.
