Hi

I want to simulate a combustion reaction in Ansys CFX. I am defined methane combustion (single-step) reaction.

I want to initialize a high temperature source in my geometry at time let say, t =10 s (I am performing a transient state analysis) so that my combustion reaction starts.

Please help me how to define an expression for initialization.

Thank you in advance

Have you done the CFX combustion tutorials? Make sure you have done any relevant tutorials so you know how to set it up.

But to answer your direct question - you can apply a heat source on a boundary or a volume.

Boundaries are easy - just define a heat flux boundary (or maybe temperature if you want). No need for source terms.

Volumes will require a source term. If the heat is just a constant heating rate (or heat flux) then you can use this directly in the source term. If you want to source to go to a defined temperature you will need to do a source term of the form -c(T-T(defined)). Let us know if you want us toe explain this further - and it is discussed in the documentation under source terms.
