Dear friends

I did 3 dimensional simulation in cfx. assume cylindrical coordinates. now I want to obtain average of flow in θ direction and have the flow just on a r-z plane. do you know how to do that?

thanks very much

I don't think you can do this in CFD-Post. Look at more advanced post processors like Ensight, Fieldview or Tecplot. Alternately you can export the data and use a maths package like matlab or python to do it.
zese likes this.

thanks very much for your reply. would you please tell me how tecplot does that? I brought my data to tecplot but I dont have any idea

Try a tecplot forum - http://www.tecplottalk.com/forums/ or https://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/tecplot/

Gert-Jan will become famous soon enough
You can create a cylindrical surface (Use User surface-menu, use a high enough resolution in axial and θ-direction) and run the turbo tab to let Post calculate the velocities in clindrical coordinates.
Then use the calculator to calculate the flow in θ direction. Don't know what you actually mean with 'flow' in this respect. In general, average velocities are easy to obtain sing areaAve. Using areaInt of a velocity, you can obtain a kind of flow................

thanks very much for your reply. I was aiming to sum velocity values in different theta and interpolate them into a r-z plane.
