Hi,

I am simulating a Shell and tube heat exchanger. But I face with the following error, why does this happen?

BC is as flollows:

Hot inlet: velocity 1 m/s- temperature 95 c

Hot outlet: 0 pa relative static pressure

Cold inlet: velocity 1 m/s- temperature 12 c

cold outlet: 0 pa relative static pressure

Thanks.

Why is this whole thing one domain? It should be 2 separate domains?

Try changing the expert parameter it recommends to 1.2.

Thanks, you are right. Error solved but I faced with other problem. when I display streamlines in CFD-Post, I see that some stream lines inter to tube zone!!(please see the following picture). Am I right?

This could be due to wrong Interface because one interface is as follows:

and other Interface is as follows:

In setup, there is such message:

I am grateful that guide me in these cases.

Thanks.

You appear to have set a fluid-fluid interface. So the fluid just goes straight through it, as you asked it too.

You probably either want to model the pipe as a solid domain to separate the two fluid domains, or use a thin wall to separate the two fluid domains but allow heat transfer.

Thanks your reply.

Yes, you are right. I want to model the pipe as a solid domain to separate the two fluid domains, or use a thin wall to separate the two fluid domains. But because I didn't create a cell zone as a solid domain(thickness of pipe), I want to use thin wall to separate the two fluid domains. How?

Thanks..

Opaque will become famous soon enough
In the snapshot of the interface you showed, go to the Additional Models tab.

Check the options for Mass and Momentum, and select as needed.
