Hi, guys

If I want to embed a small mesh into the large mesh of a flow passage. Is it possible for CFX to merge the small mesh into the large mesh? I.e. is it possible for CFX to deal with the overlapping volume of two meshes?

I ask this because otherwise I have to empty the space in the large mesh while generating the large mesh. I know that CFX’s powerful GGI interface system can automatically deal with the overlapping part of two mesh surfaces. Although I haven’t found any documents to suggest that CFX can deal with the overlapping volume.

Thank you very much!

CFX cannot handle overlapping meshes. You need fluent for that.

The only exception is the immersed solids model uses an overlapping mesh approach, but this is only to model the solid region in a meshed region.

GGI interfaces are used to join mesh regions together where the mesh does not match at the interface. You can do a fine mesh around your region of interest and a coarse mesh further away and join them with a GGI, CFX can do this if this is what you want to do.
