Hi All,
What is a sliver fase? When i attempt to generate amesh, I am told by CFX5.6 Build that my model has a sliver fase. Can some one kindly explain to me what this is all about?? Thanks CFX New user |

Hi,
Sliver face is defined as a face whose ratio of perimeter length to area is greater than the certain value. Default critical value is 25. Surfaces with a high sliver factor can result in a poor quality surface mesh. The sliver factor associated with a surface is computed, as: Sliver factor = (perimeter length)^2 / (4Pi * surface area) Cheers, Jeniffer |

Hi Jenipher,
Thanks for the good explanation. Now, the surface Build complains about is like a disc with a hole in the middle (washer). I copied it from another one and I am sure my ratio, if calculated properly, should meet that condition. It compalins only about one. Is there a specific problem with such a geometry? Could it be that Build is failing to calculate properly the perimeter, and hence giving it a very high value that results in a critical value above 25? If this is so then how does one address this problem? kind regards CFX New user |
