Hello,

I am modeling an open impeller centrifugal pump with a fairly small tip clearance in CFX. I noticed that in the expert parameters, there is an option named "viscous work at tip". I could not find any documentation about this expert parameter. So my question is:

1- Does anybody know if activating this option will affect my solution considering that this is an incompressible flow simulation?

2- Can anyone point me to a publication or piece of documentation about the theory behind this term? (I assume this is different than the viscous terms in the energy equation)

Thank you

The first rule of expert parameters is you don't use them unless you know what they do

You have misread it. The parameter is "Viscous work at ip", with the documentation describing it as "Discretizes the viscous work term in the energy equation at integration points (ip)."

It has nothing to do with rotor tip clearance vorticies.

Thanks Glenn. Sorry about the misread
