Hello!
I'm trying (unfortunately without any success so far) to create a "user surface" in CFX-Post. I've read the manual at page 103 (ANSYS CFX 15), but cannot understand the concept of "connectivity". Is there someone who could write down an example of a user plane surface made up of 2 faces each one of which formed by 4 points so that I can finally understand the syntax? Thanks, thanks so much |

Here is how you get one to understand the file structure.
Load your definition/results file into CFD-Post Create a plane by any method Go to File/Export Select the plane you just created and export to a .csv file. Do not forget to include the connectivity setting, so you can get the "[Faces]" block in the file. Open the .csv file and notice/compare with the description in the documentation. |

As described before, I have created a user surface in CFX POST and exported it to a .csv file. Now I want to create a user surface in CFX PRE. Therefore, i have imported the .csv file, but I get the following error:
ERROR Error detected when trying to read data from the file for '/LIBRARY/USER LOCATION DEFINITIONS/USER SURFACE:User Surface 1': Invalid format in file '....', line 5. After reading name of profile data set, saw '[Data]' section heading. Expected to read: '[Reference CoordFrame]' section heading, '[Parameters]' section heading, or '[Spatial Fields]' section heading. How can I solve this problem? I need that surface in CFX PRE. |

I found a solution on my own. In CFX POST export select:
Type --> BC Profil Profil Type --> Custom Activate Face Connectivity |

Another solution.

I suppose that the User surface was designed to receive information from other software results. So I thought that I could create a fake and quick simulation with the similar mesh but just with surface I want to show the result. It works for me, see the following pictures for the summarized procedure. 01_the original model. 02_Fake Model to obtain the modified mesh and exporting: 03_The original model, importing the modified mesh surface 04_Surface loaded. 05_Sowing the surface only 06_ Showing results in the User Surface Last edited by camposrf; June 26, 2020 at 03:35.
